Sugar

Sugar

Getting ready for the holidays makes me think of the food I will serve.   I love to bake and would love to make endless treats but am trying to focus on what is best for us.  We all know sugar is not a good thing but it is difficult to remember at holiday time as visions of sweets come to mind but as I read over the bad things that sugar does, I am able to make better choices for my family.
Some consequences of eating sugar:
1.  Sugar causes inflammation in the body.
2.   Sugar can break down collagen in the skin which would keep the skin more elastic and prevent wrinkles and sagging.
3.   Sugar makes you crave more sugar.
4.   Sugar primes your body for diabetes and heart disease.
I think we will have a small piece of pumpkin pie and choose card games and walks as substitutes for desserts. Our focus will be spending time together and not getting a sugar high.
