A recent article by Anahad O'Connor exposed inferior supplements sold at major retailers. The New York Attorney General has sent a cease and desist notice to GNC, Target, Walgreens and Walmart. Their herbal suppliments were tested and it was found that four out of five of their products did not contain any of the herbs on their labels. It was shown that the “medicinal herbs” often contained little more than cheap fillers like powdered rice and houseplants and could even be potentially dangerous to those with allergies. Some claimed to be gluten free but were found to contain wheat. This investigation was most welcome to health experts who have long been concerned with quality and safety of supplements. It is so important to purchase quality products or you are wasting money and potentially harming yourself. That is why there is such a price difference between adulterated product and a quality supplement. You get what you pay for.
